My Take:
I am a proponent of any natural substance that can help increase performance. Supplement industries are full of hype and claims to attract your attention. Weight gain protein supplements, fat blockers... the list goes on and on. From my experience though, what actually increases daily performance (whether it be athletic performance or just day to day stuff) is clean living.

Yes, flaxseed is a rich source of omega-3. We even have it in protein supplement. But I feel plant-based sources of omega-3 like flaxseed and hemp oil won't cut it alone. Why? From what I've researched, these plant based oils are mainly a source of ALA. There is minimal EPA and DHA, all three are 'essential' to the body. So if you are deficient in omega-3 fatty acids and you are supplementing it through plant-based oils, you are not getting the complete profile.
And for vegetarians and vegans? I'd be researching this topic very thoroughly as it is vitally important.

WHICH FISH OIL SHOULD I TAKE?
I always try to get practitioner only fish oil as I have more faith in the quality of the oil. I've been using the fish oil pictured on the right.
Krill oil is exceptional fish oil where you will get more bang for your buck. But expect to pay more for this. I'm also a fan of the brand Metagenics, but again this stuff is pricey. So I guess it depends on where your priorities lie.
I also take cod liver oil along with fish oil. I buy this in liquid form which you can get infused with lemon. It's palatable like this and a must for me. The plain raw stuff makes me gag. I put it in my smoothie once and I thought I was drinking a sardine shake! But I take it in the infused lemon liquid form as this is more potent and drinkable. I will take a dessert spoonful every morning.
Why do I take both? I look at cod liver oil more as a vitamin A and vitamin D supplement, as they are rich in both. Also the fatty acids are there but the makeup is a little different to fish/krill oil. So I like to cover both bases.
And the dosage?
I guess that will depend on whether you are deficient or you are maintaining. I split the dosage between each end of the day. I take 2000mg (2 x 1000mg capsules) in the morning with breakfast, and 3000mg after exercise in the evening. Along with this I will take a dessert spoon of cod liver oil in the morning as well.
Current research shows in the area of human longevity and life extension recommends up to 3000mg of fish oil a day for maintenance. When related to more serious cases like mood disorders or bipolar disorders, depression or ADHD etc, up to 10,000mg a day can be needed!

All 3 of these pre-workouts taste nearly identical, even though each flavor I had was different. They were overly sweet, and bitterly sour and the same time - similar to the sour candies that I used to eat when I was a kid which would my face scrunch up in distaste (yet somehow this was enjoyable then). I had the Blue Raspberry, Sucker Punch, and Berry respectively. If you've ever had a 5-Hour energy drink, it tastes very close to those. My guess would be that by trying to stuff all of those chemicals into such a small container would make it really sour, so they have to over sweeten it just to cover it up. On the plus side, the bottles are so small that you can down it in just a few gulps.
How Did They Work?
NO Xplode Igniter Shots:
This was the first of the 3 I tried and I can easily say that it works quite well. I felt energized, focused, and got to the gym about 10 minutes earlier ( I was still excited about the no mixing part here). It was a high intensity interval workout that they feature in one of the P90x programs. Over the course of the hour session, I was able to keep my energy levels up till the end with a minimal crash following. Stamina certainly felt improved as well. About the flavor, I purchased the Blue Raspberry (not my favorite with anything, but it was all they had) and it was pretty similar to the regular NO Xplode's.
VPX Redline:
I used VPX's Redline for an arms day that lasted about 60 min. Similar to NO above, energy and focus was good but I didn't see or feel much of an improvement in the pump category. And that's pretty odd for anyone's arm day. Besides that my stamina was decent, though I started to feel tired around the 50 min mark which brought a bit of a crash as well. This is most likely from the 300mg of caffeine they stuck in there. It's a rare few people that don't crash after that much caffeine. The Berry flavor was okay, still just sour.
Hemo Rage:
Hemo Rage happened to fall on a circuit training day, which works pretty much all of my muscles at a fast pace. Surprisingly, I found Hemo Rage to be my favorite of the 3. The energy was nice and smooth coming up and going down, focus lasted through to the end, and I didn't feel any crash whatsoever either. And for some reason, the pump I got from Hemo was noticeably better than I had received from the other two supplements. The taste swas still sour, but seemed a little less so than the others too. The one thing I don't like about Hemo Rage is the ingredient label... the only thing that it tells you the amount of, is how much Sodium there is. What's the point of even having a label? Though I can honestly say it was my favorite of these 3 supplements, I'd say that they'd better start thinking about having better label transparency and no prop blends because a lot of the most popular brands out right now show everything on their label.
